How To Remove Yellow Stains And Odor Off A Pillow Top Mattress

The absorbent top layer of pillow top mattresses makes them susceptible to stains. However, if your mattress has collected stains over the years, you can restore it to its original state using some quality household items.

When it comes to removing stains from a pillow top mattress, many people are afraid to face the challenge. However, when you use the right cleaners and avoid too much liquid, you’ll be able to remove those unsightly stains and odors without ruining the fabric.

🛒 First, grab the necessary supplies:

▪ Baking Soda

▪ Distilled White Vinegar

▪ Spray bottle

▪ Paper towels or rags

🧽 The cleaning process:

◼ Spray vinegar on the stains. Do not pour vinegar directly on the stains, as it may oversaturate the mattress. Let the vinegar sit for 5-10 minutes. If you have a ceiling fan, turn it on or run a stand-alone fan. Make sure the windows are open at all times. As a result of the increased air flow, the cleaning process is sped up.

◼ Soak up the vinegar with paper towels or rags. This step involves pressing several layers of paper towels into the mattress.

◼ Sprinkle baking soda all over the mattress. This step can be done with a sieve. If there are a lot of clumps just break them up with your fingers. Now, let the baking soda sit for several hours. After a couple of hours, you’ll begin to see the baking soda caking as it soaks up the vinegar (and taking that nasty odor with it!).

◼ Vacuum up the baking soda from the mattress. Make sure to go over the crevices several times.

◼ As you can see, the stains are mostly gone.

Allow the mattress to dry naturally. This can take a while, but you can help to speed up the process by opening the bedroom windows.
