The Fastest Way To Defog Your Car Windshield

There are a lot of advantages living in a cold climate but maintaining your car in a good condition is just not one of them. Since the chilly weather seized most of the US states we have to resort at fluffy blouses, warm coats and patience to defog your car windshield. As a driver, I’m worried about the interior of the windshield fogging up during the cold season, because I can’t see the street or the pedestrians.

The fogging phenomenon

The fogging occurs due to temperature and moisture variation between the inside and outside of the car. If outside is cold and dry and inside is warmer and moister due to your body heat and breath, condensation and fog may occur.

How to defog your car windshield rapidly

As a quick method to defog your car windshield you have to lower the inside temperature so that the moisture stops condensing on the glass. Turn the defrost vent on without heat or simply open the windows to dissipate the fog on the window.

Or you can resort to the following quick tricks in defogging the windshield:

DIY Anti Fog Windshield: Rubbing the windshield glass with your hands can help remove condensation but only momentarily, so it’s not the best way to defog your car.
I recommend soaking your windscreen with a mixture of soap and water before starting to circulate. After passing a dry cloth over the windshield, remove the soapy solution well. This DIY trick will help avoid your car from fogging up too quickly.

Defog Car Windows Spray: Alcohol is another great way in which you can defog your car window.

  • Mixing 1 part water to 2 parts ethanol or rubbing alcohol.
  • Shake together.
  • Place this solution into a spray bottle and spray it on to the windshield and/or car windows.

This is definitely the quickest way to defog your car windshield and, because alcohol is so low in temperature, it will not freeze if you leave it in the car like some other products might.
